Aude Beyens
Aude Beyens is a dermatologist and resident in clinical genetics at the Ghent University Hospital. She joined the Callewaert lab in 2013 as a master’s student and is currently finishing her PhD on deep phenotyping and gene identification in cutis laxa syndromes. During her dermatology residency, she developed a special interest in rare skin disorders or genodermatoses. Since September 2022, she is a staff member at the Center for Medical Genetics Ghent, where she focusses on improving the diagnostics and care for rare skin disorders which is highlighted by her commitment to the multidisciplinary management of neurofibromatosis type 1 and mosaic skin disorders. In addition to her research focusing on genodermatoses, she also continues both fundamental and clinical research on cutis laxa syndromes by investigating its pathophysiology and developing management guidelines. She is a member of the European Reference Networks (ERN) Skin and Genetic Tumor Risk Syndromes (GENTURIS), Flemish Network for Rare Disorders, and serves as a member of the Ghent University Hospital Ethical Committee.
