Maxim Verlee
Following my studies in Medicine, I joined the CallewaertLab in 2021 as a PhD student. My research centers in the field of cardiogenetics, with a particular focus on arterial tortuosity syndrome and congenital heart disease. By employing clinical data, patient samples and animal models including mice and zebrafish, my work aims to unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying these complex disorders. In addition to my research commitments, I am also pursuing an internal medicine residency at the UZ Ghent, complementing my research with clinical experience.
PhD topic: Dissecting the basis of arterial tortuosity.
